Guidebooks

The Sydney Rockclimbing Club has published several guidebooks of local climbing areas. Most of these are now out of print.

The guidebooks listed below can be found throughout Australia in climbing shops and gyms. If your local shop/gym doesn't carry them, ask them to obtain stock from the SRC at PO Box A592, Sydney South NSW 1235.

Note: The SRC has established a Guidebook fund to assist authors writing climbing guides. Applications for funding can be made by members and non-members - contact the SRC at the address shown in the previous paragraph, or e-mail the Secretary.

Proceeds from the sale of club published guides go back into our guidebook fund. The SRC Access Fund receives a small surcharge levied by the club on the sale of each guidebook.

The SRC also funds the Sun, Surf and Sandstone website which lists crags and climbs in the Sydney basin.

It pays to be a member, as members can buy guidebooks at a greatly reduced rate. Find out about joining the SRC.

Guides Published by the SRC

Wolgan Valley Guide Second edition (April 2002). Describes selected areas and climbs in the Wolgan Valley, west of the Blue Mountains near Lithgow. The Wolgan valley contains many crags, covering all types of climbing from classic cracks, sports routes and multipitch climbs. Typical shop price: $35 Price to members: $22
Rockclimbs In the Upper Blue Mountains More than 2000 climbs at 50 crags are described in the area from Leura in the east to Lithgow in the west. Typical shop price: $35 Price to members: $15
Boulderer's Guide to Lindfield Rocks Complete guide to the boulder problems found at Lindfield in Sydney's north east. Typical shop price: $10 Price to members: $6
